Group exhibition JEUX
Exhibition from May 31 to August 11, 2024
Vernissage and Performance (*) on May 30
Here, it won't be about sports or even competition. Here, we will play other games, not the one of being oneself, or at least, the one people think we are, to paraphrase Arthur Rimbaud.
Lidwine Rupp Gallery, in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympics, partners with Novotel Paris Porte d’Orléans to present the collective exhibition “J EUX”. This artistic exhibition opens another space for encounters, in these historical places of hospitality such as hotel lobbies and their bars.
Airports, train stations, supermarkets, and even subway corridors are non-places through which we transit, continuously moving from one space to another, from inside to outside, almost without realizing it, in anonymity, and without leaving traces of our passage.
The Olympic Games are a time of acceleration and amplification of this phenomenon as the city of Paris will be the focus of the world’s attention during the summer of 2024. Lidwine Rupp Gallery, a young gallery based in Montrouge, invites artists and creators to take part in the Games, far from representing a heroic or warrior month, in an intermediate space of breathing, a shelter for dreams and imagination.
The liminal space, a place of transition finally inhabited, then becomes a relational space conducive to societal changes.
(*) During the opening of the JEUX exhibition at Novotel Paris 14 Porte d’Orléans, Célia Untitled will present the performance [Paillasson] and will attempt, in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, by diverting and displacing the visitor, to open another space of Play bringing forth both the Self and the Us. [Paillasson] et tentera, à l’aune des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques Paris 2024, en déviant, déplaçant le visiteur, d’ouvrir un autre espace de Jeu faisant advenir du Je autant que du Nous.
